August Snapshot

  • ACEVic met with NHVic and ALA to discuss actions for advocacy for the ACE sector.

  • ACEVic met with Salvation Army Employment Plus managers from Lilydale, Ringwood, Rowville and Boronia to assist in making connections with Learn Local Organisations to deliver bespoke pre-accredited course for unemployed and vulnerable women in the outer east.

  • Nina has been able to visit ACEVic members Community Learning Centre (Rowville), Cire Training, Your Library (formerly Eastern Regional Libraries) Alamein Neighbourhood & Learning and Prahran place during August. Valuable visits listening to providers challenges, connecting members with networks, supporting new staff to the ACE sector and following up queries.

  • ACEVic including ACEVic Board Chair Sue Geals, Treasurer Janet Claringbold and Secretary Tina Bampton were able to attend the 69th Victorian Training Awards Gala event on 18th August. Quite the celebration for the training sector.   • Jointly hosted with ALA the first of a series of Professional Learning Network events.

  • ACEVic continues to meet with members 1:1 to hear opportunities, challenges and provide support, in particular in relation to the advocacy of the sector.


ACFE Board Chairperson announcement

ACEVic would like to extend a warm welcome to Dr Teresa De Fazio OAM the recently appointed incoming ACFE Board Chairperson.

Dr Teresa De Fazio has a strong background in academia, government and community engagement. The Board and Learn Local sector will undoubtedly benefit from her 30 years of experience across a breadth of vocational, community and higher education, with qualifications and experience in inclusive education practices, multicultural education and educational leadership.
