Adult Literacy and Numeracy Practitioner Program
ACEVic is involved in numerous projects across the State to build the capability of community education practitioners and providers. All projects contribute to the growth and sustainability of the sector.
In partnership with Adult Learning Australia, ACEVic developed the Adult Literacy and Numeracy Practitioner Professional Development Program. This program is aligned to the ACFE Board’s Strategy and their commitment to support the capability and capacity of LLOs to deliver pre-accredited literacy and numeracy programs. “This is a critical component of our mission to lead Literacy & Numeracy by strengthening practitioner expertise in L&N in our Learn Local workforce.” Maria Peters (ACFE Board Chair).

Apply for Phase 3 – Exciting opportunity for pre-accredited educators
Nineteen highly skilled and experienced literacy and numeracy practitioners have been trained to deliver the Adult Literacy and Numeracy Practitioners Program to their peers in Learn Local providers across the state.
This professional development aims to improve practitioners knowledge and skills in adult literacy and numeracy practice.
The ALNPP was developed by Adult Learning Australia (ALA) and Adult and Community Education Victoria (ACEVic). ALA and ACEVic will be coordinating the delivery of phase 3 of the ALNPP between March and June 2021. The program will be delivered online by experienced Learn Local ALNPP mentors.

- Using the Pre-accredited Quality Framework
- Using the Australian Core Skills Framework

“I’ve been impressed by the feedback I have seen from those currently participating and who are fully engaging with the online platform and resources, forums, webinars and facilitated discussions. Current participants have indicated they have gained much from the program; they feel empowered by the latest research and theories to strengthen delivery and engage learners” Maria Peters ACFE Board Chair.
This online professional development program has been designed for practitioners delivering adult literacy and numeracy pre-accredited programs in Victoria. Many practitioners who will participate in this program will have years of experience and the content will affirm or refresh their practice. For others who may be new to pre-accredited training, this program may identify areas for exploration and discovery to equip them to meet the needs of our true focus – our learners. We would like to thank the Victorian Department of Education and Training and the ACFE Board for providing the funding to develop this innovative program, which was developed by ALA and ACEVic in conjunction with the project’s Steering Committee as well as sector experts and practitioners.
The ALNPPD Program has been positively received by the sector, with a range of feedback indicating the level of satisfaction with the program.
“… this course is the best course I have ever completed, even better than the Diplomas I have done. The depth of information is so immense it will take me a great deal of time to consolidate my learning. I appreciate very much all the time and effort to all who have contributed to the program. The presentation and quality of materials is to be commended; I would not say that unless I meant it”
“It is wonderful to have ongoing access to the excellent resources and links on Moodle. The self-paced approach on Moodle enabled participants to fit the learning requirements around their work schedules”
“I’m excited about the potential to capitalise on the ALNPP networks to build communities of practice and engage in peer mentoring. This will enhance the skills of practitioners, improve program delivery and ultimately enhance the learning experiences and outcomes of adult literacy and numeracy learners”
“I was introduced to many subjects for the first time and which I am certain to explore further in my lifelong learning. It is the first time since teaching in the adult sector which has been 20 years plus that I have had such in-depth and thorough learning”
“The ALNPP is a great initiative and marks a milestone for the sector. The recent Ministerial Statement has put the future of the Adult Education sector firmly on the Agenda and the subsequent Board Strategy provides a plan for implementation. Now with the ALNPP we have action.”
